Railcar Paint Supervisor
TrinityRail Maintenance Services is hiring a Railcar Paint Supervisor in Shell Rock, Iowa!
The Railcar Paint Supervisor oversees the exterior and interior paint teams, as well as the product surface teams throughout day-to-day operations as well as contributes to the long-term operational plan, including training and onboarding the new employees, scheduling and assigning work duties, overcoming operational obstacles, and managing production and employee performance to ensure that the plant’s safety, quality, and production goals are achieved.

- Maintain staff by orienting and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities
- Considerable knowledge of the application processes of coating materials
- Accomplishes team results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; conducting training; implementing & enforcing systems, policies, and procedures
- Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards; adhering to legal regulations
- Completes operations by developing schedules; assigning and monitoring work that includes interaction with other departments in the paint buildings; gathering resources; implementing productivity standards; resolving operations problems; maintaining reference manuals; implementing new procedures
- Adheres to customer coating expectations
- Obides by all quality standards regarding product surface preparation, coating preparation, exterior and internal coatings, and stenciling
- Controls expenses by ordering inventory based on customer needs, practices inventory control by prioritizing current supplies to meet customer needs, participates in submitting cost savings ideas, budget information; monitors expenditures; monitoring variances; implementing corrective actions
- Provides quality service by enforcing quality, customer service standards, participates in submitting quality improvements
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing procedures, specifications, MI’s and Field manuals
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
What You'll Need:
- High school diploma required, BS/BA in management or relevant discipline preferred
- 3 or more years manufacturing coatings, paint, and lining supervision experience
- Ability to drive for results in a fast paced, change-based environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products; specifically Excel and Word
- Experience with Time & Attendance system; Kronos preferred
- Communication skills, both written and verbal and ability to communicate across all levels
- Tracking Budget Expenses, Supervision, Quality Management, Safety Management, Delegation, Performance Management, Organization, Foster Teamwork, Self-Development, Giving Feedback. Proven experience as supervisor or relevant role
- Familiarity with company policies and legal guidelines of the field
- Ability to learn a variety of job descriptions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Outstanding organizational and leadership skills
