Director, IT Development
Trinity Industries is seeking a Director, IT Development – Services Operations in our Dallas, TX corporate headquarters. This role will be responsible for the full application lifecycle and operational performance of the Services Operations application portfolio. This includes the conceptualization, planning, evaluation, development, integration, testing, deployment and support of application platforms and associated technologies.

What you’ll do:
- Provide technical delivery leadership, best practices, and implementation experience to drive a team of highly skilled technical resources
- Demonstrate deep analytical and technical expertise with custom .NET applications, API integration, and Salesforce to support a scaling business support through modernization and transformation of our systems landscape
- Plan, assign and direct the activities of professional and technical personnel involved in the design and development projects required to create and maintain new software, or install and implement software purchased from outside vendors
- Lead implementation delivery by collaborating cross functionally with organizations like systems analysis, quality assurance, systems operations, and other IT application areas in support of Services Operations projects
- Provide a key point of contact for business partners participating in discussions of strategic and tactical direction and shaping optimum technology solutions for current and future technology needs
- Serve as Applications Architect within the assigned application portfolio(s), providing technical direction and guidance, as well as hands-on systems engineering design, collaborating with the senior solutions architect
- Play a strategic role in identifying technology direction that would enable the business to more effectively achieve business goals within and across assigned application portfolio(s)
- Participate in IT management duties such as budget and financial activities; process standards, improvement, and monitoring; program and project management; enterprise application portfolio management; vendor management and strategic sourcing; workforce planning; information security; and strategic planning
- Support major incident recoveries, root cause analysis, solution workarounds and restoration of services
- Review service trends, identifying themes, communicating risks and propose technical solutions
- Contribute to and maintain awareness of Trinity application architectural standards
- Ensure solutions conform to established Trinity security standards and requirements
- Responsible for managing third party services delivery organizations providing support for one or more applications with the assigned portfolio
- Trains staff and promotes knowledge sharing and cross functional collaboration
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or other technical field required
- Minimum of 2 years of executive level experience (Director), systems development executive experience preferred
- Minimum of 8 years of Software Development experience including managing distributed software development teams, ideal candidate should have experience leading multi-disciplinary teams
- Demonstrated expert with API integration in a highly transactional systems environment
- Strong understanding of applications architecture processes, design patterns, and standards
- Prior software delivery management expertise including the ability to concurrently handle multiple simultaneous complex projects
- Excellent problem solving, analytical and interpersonal communication skills are a must
- Must have a desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, process and product quality and reliability
- Fully conversant in the process and methods of developing solution requirements from business to functional to technical
- Demonstrated expertise constructing a value proposition or benefits case for a given solution proposal
- Experience with Agile and Waterfall development methodologies and strong knowledge of all phases of system development life cycle required
- Disciplined organization and planning skills
- Thrive on technical challenges and take pride in finding elegant, sustainable solutions; constantly thinking of ways to improve our productivity, reliability, and code base
