TrinityRail Maintenance Services is hiring a Lead NDT II Tech in our Shell Rock, Iowa facility!

 

This person will perform maintenance, modification, and rehabilitation of fabricated metal products and supporting operating systems according to work orders, blueprints, and schematics. They will also test and troubleshoot product operation and make adjustments.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead a team by assigning tasks and instructing employees on proper railcar maintenance activities
  • Inspect railcar qualification requirements, railcar repair, valve repair, and paint/coating tasks to ensure compliance with FRA, AAR, Company and customer requirements, standards, and procedures
  • Assist in the completion of all tasks to meet deadlines
  • Perform complex troubleshooting and repair of NDT Equipment
  • Accurately measure to specifications using existing mechanical aptitude
  • Work from blueprints or other specifications/schematics
  • Follow all safety rules and practices, possibly participate in safety committees or initiatives
  • Efficiently communicate technical information to members of different teams
  • Enter tank cars via a manway opening approximately 20 inches in diameter


What You'll Need:

  • High School diploma required, Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred
    4 or more years of experience in manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of industry specific tests and test equipment
  • Previous experience in quality control/assurance in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Previous railroad repair experience is preferred but not required
  • Passion for outstanding customer service
  • Vision (corrected or uncorrected) to 20/40 or better for inspection activities
  • Ability to acquire NDT Level II certifications in accordance with TrinityRail’s written practice
  • Ability to learn complex procedures, standards and regulations quickly
  • Basic mechanical aptitude to read drawings and ability to use railroad gauges, testing techniques and test equipment
  • Understanding of computers, operating systems and Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, Excel)
